IVY Project Partner for the Interreg project "PROTECHMED"
Support innovative solutions for the technological transition of the Mediterranean horticultural sector
Akdeniz University is looking for an IVY volunteer!
The volunteer will support the Interreg project “PROTECHMED - PROmoting innovative solutions for the TECHnological Transition of the MEDiterranean horticultural sector", under the Programme Interreg NEXT MED.
The objective of the Interreg project "PROTECHMED" is to create an ecosystem for co-designing and testing eco-innovative solutions for horticultural greenhouses, focusing on water and energy conservation. The project unites over 300 stakeholders from Greece, Italy, Malta, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Türkiye to bridge the gap between research and agricultural companies. It develops smart technologies to improve efficiency, such as photovoltaic systems and a Decision Support System. The project includes training for 150+ technicians, an Inception Camp for collaborative problem-solving, and a final business model roadmap for sustainable food production.
The volunteer will be carrying out the following tasks and activities:
help with the implementation and monitoring of the PROTECHMED pilot greenhouse in Antalya;
assisting with field observations, collecting and organising monitoring data, documenting pilot activities through photographs and field notes, and supporting the project team during technical visits and stakeholder activities.
help supporting the monitoring and documentation of the pilot greenhouse and the Decision Support Systems (DSS), assisting with preparation of related records and simple project materials.
participate in relevant project meetings, technical visits and stakeholder activities.
Other information:
Financial support of: 28.08 euros per day (week-end and holidays included).
Location: Konyaaltı, Antalya, Türkiye.
Start and duration: October, for 6 months.
Deadline for applications: 13 October
Languages*: English (A2), Turkish (B2)
*Please be aware that the languages mentioned are the minimum level of command required.

How we support you

Financial support
Every volunteer receives a stipend to cover expenses for food and accommodation. The amount provided allows them to live in similar conditions as the local population where they are volunteering, and ranges from 21.48 EUR to 92.96 EUR per day.

Insurance
IVY volunteers are fully covered with health, liability and accident insurance. AEBR arranges the policies for you for the entire duration of the experience, if needed.

Contribution to travel costs
Travel costs to relocate are covered by AEBR, based on lump sums according to the distance between the host organisation and your place of residence. The sum is allocated depending on the distance in km.

Visa
Volunteers are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate visa, residence permit, or any other authorization required to legally enter, reside, and carry out their volunteering activity in the hosting country. Once selected, volunteers are expected to complete all necessary administrative procedures, and submit the required documentation to the relevant authorities. For eligible volunteers relocating between countries participating in the IVY initiative, IVY will reimburse the costs associated with obtaining the required visa, and provide invitation letters and proof of financial means. However, the responsibility for identifying the correct visa, preparing the application, and completing the necessary formalities remains with the volunteer.
