IVY Project Partner for the Interreg project "ZDrauA"

Fachhochschule Kärnten gemeinnützige GmbH is looking for an IVY volunteer!
The volunteer will support the Interreg project “ZDrauA - Next-generation biomonitoring of Drava/Drau for sustainable and healthy regional development", under the Programme Interreg Slovenia-Austria.
The objective of the Interreg project "ZDrauA" is to improve and harmonize cross-border next-generation biomonitoring (NGB) of biological water quality elements in the Drava/Drau River and its catchment, extending across Austria and Slovenia.
The volunteer will be carrying out the following tasks and activities:
- sampling of water samples and organismal samples (river Drava/Drau and tributaries);
- extraction of organismal DNA from environmental samples;
- extraction of bacterial and/or viral DNA from water samples;
- execution of qPCR and dPCR;
- adjustment of analysis protocols for optimization purposes;
- evaluation of results, visualization, and reporting to project members;
- participation in department and project meetings
Other information:
Financial support of: 39.20 euros per day (week-end and holidays included).
Location: Klagenfurt, Austria.
Start and duration: January 2026, for 6 months.
Languages: English (B2), knowledge of German or Slovenian is a plus.

Financial support
Every volunteer receives a stipend to cover expenses for food and accommodation. The amount provided allows them to live in similar conditions as the local population where they are volunteering, and ranges from 23 to 39 EUR per day.

Insurance
IVY volunteers are fully covered with health, liability and accident insurance. AEBR arranges the policies for you for the entire duration of the experience.

Contribution to travel costs
Travel costs to relocate are covered by AEBR, based on lump sums according to the distance between the host organisation and your place of residence. The sum is allocated depending on the distance in km.
