Support the introduction of innovative circular economy models in the construction sector.
The EUROKOM Association is looking for an IVY volunteer!
The volunteer will support the Interreg project “KARMA - Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - Acting Today for a Better Future", under the Interreg Europe programme.
The objective of the Interreg project "KARMA" is focused on promoting the circular economy in the construction sector. Its main objective is to improve regional policies related to waste management, the recovery of construction and demolition materials, reuse and recycling practices, thus contributing to the transition towards a greener and climate-neutral Europe. The project is based on interregional exchange of good practices, mutual learning activities, thematic working groups and stakeholder involvement. KARMA specifically addresses topics such as: circular construction and sustainable restoration of buildings; Construction and demolition waste management; reuse of materials; Innovation and new business models; Green public procurement; Governance and sustainable territorial planning. In the Calabria Region, the project aims to improve the Regional Waste Management Plan and support the introduction of innovative circular economy models in the construction sector, helping local authorities, enterprises and stakeholders transition towards more sustainable practices and achieve European climate and circular economy objectives.
The volunteer will be carrying out the following activities:
Contribute to the research, collection and analysis of new regional and national good practices related to the reuse and recycling of construction and demolition materials, sustainable restoration and circular construction models;
Support the monitoring activities linked to the Action Plan and policy recommendations developed by Eurokom together with the Calabria Region in the framework of the Regional Waste Management Plan and the Regional Programme Calabria 2021–2027;
Participate in the transfer and dissemination of knowledge and good practices identified by the KARMA partners towards local stakeholders, especially small municipalities, local authorities, technical professionals and community actors involved in the project;
Support the stakeholder engagement activities, including local meetings, focus groups and awareness-raising initiatives aimed at promoting more sustainable and circular approaches in construction and waste management;
Support with the communication activities connected to the project’s interregional cooperation and policy learning process;
Support the organisation in promoting the values of European Territorial Cooperation, sustainability and solidarity at local level, contributing with a young and creative perspective to the dissemination of project results and European good practices.
Other information:
Financial support of: 31.76 euros per day (week-end and holidays included).
Location: Gioiosa Ionica, Italy
Start and duration: Starting in August, for 6 months.
Deadline for application: 12 July.
Languages*: Italian (C1) and English (C1).
*Please be aware that the languages mentioned are the minimum level of command required.

How we support you

Financial support
Every volunteer receives a stipend to cover expenses for food and accommodation. The amount provided allows them to live in similar conditions as the local population where they are volunteering, and ranges from 23 to 39 EUR per day.

Insurance
IVY volunteers are fully covered with health, liability and accident insurance. AEBR arranges the policies for you for the entire duration of the experience.

Contribution to travel costs
Travel costs to relocate are covered by AEBR, based on lump sums according to the distance between the host organisation and your place of residence. The sum is allocated depending on the distance in km.
