IVY Project Partner for the Interreg project "IASON+"
Support capacity-building actions to enhance ecosystem resilience and climate change adaptation.
The Karadeniz Technical University is looking for an IVY volunteer!
The volunteer will support the Interreg project “IASON+ - Invasive Alien Species Observatory and Network Development for the Assessment of Climate Change Impacts and Contextual Ecosystem Services Evaluation in Black Sea Deltaic Protected Areas", under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin programme.
The objective of the Interreg project "IASON+" addresses the growing impact of Invasive Alien Species (IAS) on ecosystem services in deltaic protected areas of the Black Sea Basin. The project focuses on five major delta regions across Romania, Ukraine, Greece, Türkiye and Georgia. Through transnational cooperation, the project develops joint monitoring systems, ICT tools, management strategies, and capacity-building actions to enhance ecosystem resilience and climate change adaptation. The project actively involves public authorities, research institutions, local communities and NGOs to ensure sustainable management of deltaic ecosystems.
The volunteer will support the following activities:
During the IASON+ project studies, take notes during the field studies and tabulate the collected data in the computer media.
List of the catching species in Excel sheets.
To support communication and dissemination activities related to the IASON+ project, information materials, photos, and other visibility materials. Basic data collection related to communication and stakeholder engagement activities, under the supervision of the mentor.
Support the organization and implementation of project events, workshops, training sessions, and awareness-raising activities.
Engage with local public, beneficiaries, and partner organizations to promote the project’s objectives and Interreg’s role.
Other information:
Financial support of: 28.08 euros per day (week-end and holidays included).
Location: Trabzon, Türkiye
Start and duration: Starting in August, for 5 months. Experience will end on 27 December 2026.
Deadline for application: 12 July
Languages*: Turkish (C1-C2) and English (C1).
*Please be aware that the languages mentioned are the minimum level of command required.

How we support you

Financial support
Every volunteer receives a stipend to cover expenses for food and accommodation. The amount provided allows them to live in similar conditions as the local population where they are volunteering, and ranges from 21.48 EUR to 92.96 EUR per day.

Insurance
IVY volunteers are fully covered with health, liability and accident insurance. AEBR arranges the policies for you for the entire duration of the experience, if needed.

Contribution to travel costs
Travel costs to relocate are covered by AEBR, based on lump sums according to the distance between the host organisation and your place of residence. The sum is allocated depending on the distance in km.

Visa
Volunteers are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate visa, residence permit, or any other authorization required to legally enter, reside, and carry out their volunteering activity in the hosting country. Once selected, volunteers are expected to complete all necessary administrative procedures, and submit the required documentation to the relevant authorities. For eligible volunteers relocating between countries participating in the IVY initiative, IVY will reimburse the costs associated with obtaining the required visa, and provide invitation letters and proof of financial means. However, the responsibility for identifying the correct visa, preparing the application, and completing the necessary formalities remains with the volunteer.
