IVY Project Partner for the Interreg project "JOINABLE"
Support blue circuLar economy in the Adriatic and Ionian Region.
Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED) is looking for an IVY volunteer!
The volunteer will support the Interreg project “JOINABLE - JOINt approAch to Blue circuLar Economy - for Adriatic and Ionian Region", under the Programme Interreg IPA Adrion.
The objective of the Interreg project "JOINABLE" is to bring together nine partners from six countries — Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Greece — with the aim of supporting the development of a circular blue economy in the Adriatic-Ionian region. The project addresses the common challenge of plastic waste found in aquatic environments, including marine, coastal and freshwater areas. This type of waste often remains outside the conventional waste management system and its collection frequently depends on local initiatives, volunteers and civil society engagement. JOINABLE therefore seeks to create a more structured, cooperative and sustainable approach for monitoring, collecting, sorting and valorising plastic waste.
The volunteer will be carrying out the following tasks and activities:
Support the organisation of clean-up and monitoring activities in Greece: The volunteer will assist the iED team in the practical preparation of local clean-up and monitoring activities foreseen under JOINABLE. This may include supporting the preparation of activity plans, participant lists, invitations, agendas, information notes, briefing material and logistical arrangements, always under the supervision of iED staff;
Support participant and stakeholder mobilisation: The volunteer will help identify and contact relevant local participants and stakeholders, such as young people, schools, local authorities, SMEs, environmental organisations, civil society actors and local community groups. The aim will be to support participation in clean-up, monitoring and awareness-raising activities linked to aquatic plastic waste and blue circular economy;
Support field documentation of clean-up and monitoring actions: During or after the activities, the volunteer will help collect and organise non-sensitive documentation material, such as photos, short descriptions, participant feedback, basic activity notes and communication inputs. This material will support the visibility of JOINABLE activities and contribute to the documentation of local results;
Support communication on the use of citizen science and monitoring tools: The volunteer will help prepare simple, non-technical communication material explaining how JOINABLE uses digital and citizen-science approaches for clean-up, monitoring and data collection. This may include short texts or summaries referring to the project’s use of tools;
Support awareness-raising material before and after the activities: The volunteer will contribute to the preparation of accessible communication content for citizens and young people, such as short articles, social media posts, captions, newsletter inputs and simple explanatory texts on aquatic plastic waste, clean-up actions, monitoring, waste sorting and blue circular economy;
Support follow-up and dissemination of local activity results: After the clean-up and monitoring activities, the volunteer will assist in preparing short summaries, feedback overviews and communication inputs to present what took place, who participated, what was collected or observed, and how the activity contributes to JOINABLE’s wider objectives. This will help raise awareness of Interreg IPA ADRION’s impact among local communities and project beneficiaries.
